This is a Northwoods Creations "work in progress", which will be available shortly - keep an eye on the store.   Moose are native to the Northwoods of North America and they shed (lose) and re-grow their antlers every year.  This way, they start each mating season with brand-new head-gear for their battles for herd dominance and winning the intimate affections of the lady moose!  This artwork is made from a naturally shed, real moose antler found on the ground in the wild and carved by the artist to depict a Lynx prowling the Northwoods.  Lynx are felines that live in the Northwoods, subsisting primarily on Snowshoe Hare (think "big rabbit").  As the name implies, Snowshoe Hare have specialized extra large feet enabling them to get around well in the snow.  Lynx have almost comically large paws to the same effect.  Lynx can sprint on top of the snow to catch the hares.  Elusive and mysterious, Lynx are a rare sight.  They are powerful for their size and beautiful predators.  For this piece, the current plan is to remove the main base of the antler to just past the first tine and configure the remaining piece to hang on the wall - if you have a reasonably serious interest in this piece and desire a different configuration, contact me soon and we can talk about what you want.  As-shed, this antler measures 24 x 20 x 12 inches. When finished as a wall-hanger, this work will measure roughly  20 x 14 x 3 inches.
